Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about Kangen Water®, the machines, and what the science does and doesn't support.
What exactly is Kangen Water®?
Kangen Water® is the name Enagic gives to the alkaline, hydrogen-rich drinking water produced by its LeveLuk ionisers. Ordinary tap water is filtered and then passed over platinum-coated titanium plates, which use electrolysis to raise its pH and dissolve molecular hydrogen (H₂). It's produced fresh, on demand, at your tap.
Is alkaline ionised water proven to treat health conditions?
No — and we will never claim otherwise. Molecular hydrogen is an active area of research, but the studies are largely preliminary, and there are no authorised EU health claims for alkaline or hydrogen water. Kangen Water® is drinking water, not a medicine, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
How is a Kangen machine different from a filter jug or bottled alkaline water?
A filter only removes impurities. A Kangen ioniser filters and then electrolyses the water, changing its pH and hydrogen content on demand. And unlike bottled alkaline water, it's made fresh at your tap, so the dissolved hydrogen — which dissipates over time — is at its highest.
Do I need a plumber to install it?
No. A countertop machine connects to a standard kitchen tap using the included diverter in just a few minutes — all you need is a tap and a power socket.
How long does a machine last?
Enagic ionisers are built for well over a decade of daily use and carry 3–5 year manufacturer warranties depending on the model. The platinum-coated electrode plates at the heart of the machine are engineered for longevity.
How often do I change the filter?
The internal FC1 filter lasts roughly 5,700 litres (about 1,500 gallons). A built-in sensor tracks your usage and reminds you when it's time. For an average family, that's typically about once a year.
What's the difference between the K8 and the SD501?
Both are top-tier home ionisers. The K8 has 8 electrode plates — one more than the SD501 — plus a large colour touchscreen, giving a slightly stronger, more stable output. The SD501 is the long-standing classic. See our comparison table for the full breakdown.
How much does a machine cost?
We do not publish prices on this site. Enagic sets European pricing and revises it, and VAT, current offers and financing all differ from one country to the next — so a figure printed on a web page is out of date the moment any of that changes. Tell us which machine you are looking at and we will send you the current price in your own currency, together with any financing options. Just contact us, or download Enagic's own price list from our document library.
Can I really make cleaning water and beauty water too?
Yes. A single machine makes five waters: alkaline Kangen water for drinking and cooking, neutral water, mildly acidic beauty water for skin and hair, and — with the electrolysis enhancer — strong alkaline and strong acidic waters for the kitchen. Only the drinking waters should be consumed.
How do I buy, and is there a demo?
We're independent Enagic® distributors. The best way to decide is a free, no-obligation demonstration — we'll show you the machine and let you taste the water. Contact us to arrange one.
