# Water That Fits Your Day
Health & Wellness

What alkaline, hydrogen-rich water is — and, just as importantly, what the science does and doesn't say.

Your body is up to 60% water, so the water you drink matters. Kangen Water® is produced fresh, on demand, through electrolysis — filtered tap water, enriched with molecular hydrogen and set to the pH you choose. Here is an honest look at why people choose it, and where the research currently stands.

### Everyday Hydration

Good hydration supports normal physical and cognitive function and healthy body-temperature regulation — the one health effect officially recognised for water in the EU. A great-tasting glass makes drinking enough easier.

### Fresh Molecular Hydrogen

Ionisation dissolves molecular hydrogen (H₂) into the water at the moment you pour it. H₂ is the subject of a large and growing body of research — most of it still preliminary.

### A Water for Every Job

Beyond drinking, the same machine makes gentle beauty water for skin and hair and strong waters for cleaning — replacing several products with one tap.

### Less Plastic, More Routine

Because it's always on tap, an ioniser makes it easy to build a genuine daily hydration habit — without the bottles, the cost or the waste.

Water properties

## Micro-structuring and Antioxidation, in Plain Words

Two of the properties people ask about most when Kangen Water® comes up. Here is what each one means — and, honestly, what the evidence shows so far.

### Micro-structuring

What it means Water molecules do not float about separately: they bond to one another through hydrogen bonds and form groups. “Micro-structured water” is the term used for the idea that, after electrolysis, those groups are smaller and more ordered, so the water reaches where it is needed more easily.

What is known Hydrogen bonds break and re-form billions of times a second, so water structure is not something that stays fixed in a glass, and there is still no accepted way to measure it. What is clearly measurable in freshly ionised water is something else: dissolved molecular hydrogen (H₂) and a negative ORP. That is where the serious research goes.

### Antioxidation

What it means Every second, your cells use oxygen to make energy, and that process throws off reactive oxygen species — “free radicals”. In normal amounts they are useful and even necessary; in excess they cause oxidative stress. An antioxidant is a molecule that neutralises the reactive species you do not want.

What is known Since 2007, molecular hydrogen (H₂) has been studied as a selective antioxidant — the idea being that it reacts mainly with the most aggressive species without blocking the ones the body needs. Most results come from the laboratory and from animal models; human trials are still small and short, and the mechanism is debated. A promising field — not a certainty, and not a treatment.

Science & Research

## What the research actually shows

We think you deserve the honest version. Here is where the evidence stands today.

Where Kangen Water® sits on the pH scale

Kangen 8.5–9.5

0 · Acidic 7 · Neutral 14 · Alkaline

### Promising, but preliminary

Molecular hydrogen shows real antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in laboratory and animal studies. Human trials exist but are mostly small and short. A 2024 systematic review called the evidence "encouraging" yet "preliminary."

### Recognised in Japan — for mild symptoms only

Alkaline electrolysis water devices are classed in Japan as home medical devices for improving mild gastrointestinal symptoms. That is a narrow, specific recognition — not a claim to treat disease.

### What it is not

There is no authorised EU health claim for alkaline or hydrogen water. It does not "alkalise your body" or change your blood pH, and it is not a treatment for any illness. Anyone who tells you otherwise is going beyond the evidence.

From the research

## Water & Health — the Research Digest

Rather than ask you to take our word for it, here is a plain-language digest of real, published studies on hydrogen-rich and ionised water — the encouraging ones and the disappointing ones alike. Every entry links to its source on PubMed.

These summaries describe scientific studies for general information. They are not health advice and not authorised health claims. Study types are labelled so you can weigh the strength of the evidence yourself; much of it is early-stage, small or in animals.

Animal & lab study 2007

Antioxidant mechanism

### [The paper that started the field](https://kangen-lpgsolutions.com/articol/hidrogen-antioxidant-selectiv.html)

A landmark 2007 paper in Nature Medicine proposed that molecular hydrogen (H₂) can selectively neutralise the most damaging reactive oxygen species inside cells, while leaving the useful ones alone.

What they found In cell cultures and a rat stroke model, hydrogen lowered markers of oxidative brain injury.

Our honest take This is laboratory and animal work — not a study of people drinking Kangen water — and the exact mechanism is still debated. It's the spark, not the proof.

Literature overview 2023

The evidence base

### [A fast-growing research field](https://kangen-lpgsolutions.com/articol/cercetarea-hidrogenului-medical.html)

Interest in "hydrogen medicine" has grown quickly. One 2023 overview counted more than 1,000 scientific publications on molecular hydrogen — 1,126 indexed on PubMed as of mid-2021.

What they found The literature spans antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and metabolic effects across many laboratory and clinical models.

Our honest take A large volume of papers is not the same as proof. Most of this work is still early-stage, and large, long human trials remain rare.

Small human pilot · n=10 2012

Exercise & recovery

### [Hydrogen-rich water and muscle fatigue](https://kangen-lpgsolutions.com/articol/hidrogen-efort-lactat.html)

A pilot study gave ten male footballers hydrogen-rich water or placebo before a bout of intense exercise, then measured blood lactate and muscle function.

What they found The hydrogen-water sessions showed lower peak blood lactate and a smaller drop in muscle function than placebo.

Our honest take Just ten athletes across single sessions. It's an interesting signal that deserves a bigger trial — nothing more, yet.

Randomised trial 2008

Metabolic markers

### [A genuinely mixed metabolic result](https://kangen-lpgsolutions.com/articol/hidrogen-metabolism-glicemie.html)

In a randomised, placebo-controlled crossover trial, people with type-2 diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance drank hydrogen-rich water for eight weeks.

What they found Several blood-lipid and oxidative-stress markers improved — but the key long-term blood-sugar marker, HbA1c, did not change significantly.

Our honest take We show the mixed results on purpose. This is precisely why no one can honestly promise a disease benefit.

Human questionnaire study 2018

Digestive comfort

### [Japan's narrow official recognition](https://kangen-lpgsolutions.com/articol/apa-alcalina-digestie.html)

Alkaline electrolysed water is recognised in Japan only for easing mild gastrointestinal symptoms. A 2018 study followed self-reported digestive comfort in everyday drinkers.

What they found Participants reported a subjective improvement in mild gut symptoms over the study period.

Our honest take Self-rated symptoms are a weak form of evidence, and this is a narrow, specific use — never a claim to treat disease.

Meta-analysis · 76 studies 2024

Antioxidant capacity

### [What happens when you pool the trials](https://kangen-lpgsolutions.com/articol/meta-analiza-stres-oxidativ.html)

A 2024 meta-analysis combined the results of 76 studies of hydrogen-rich water to look for consistent effects.

What they found Pooled data suggested H₂ water can raise the body's measured antioxidant capacity — but did not clearly reduce oxidative-damage markers or exercise lactate.

Our honest take A better lab number is not a proven health benefit. The authors themselves call for larger, higher-quality trials.

Randomised controlled trial 2018

Neurological disease

### [When the trial says no](https://kangen-lpgsolutions.com/articol/hidrogen-parkinson-studiu.html)

A double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial tested hydrogen water against placebo in people with Parkinson's disease.

What they found The trial did not meet its primary endpoint — hydrogen water did not significantly outperform placebo.

Our honest take We include the failures too. Hydrogen water is not a treatment for Parkinson's, or for any other disease.

Peer-reviewed review 2024

The bottom line

### [Encouraging, but preliminary](https://kangen-lpgsolutions.com/articol/apa-hidrogen-bilant-dovezi.html)

A 2024 review in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences surveyed the human evidence for hydrogen-rich water across a range of health outcomes.

What they found The authors summed up the overall picture as "encouraging" — but explicitly "preliminary."

Our honest take That is our position, word for word: genuinely interesting science worth following, not a medical product, and no promises.

### Why we read independent research first — and why you should too

Most mainstream medical research is paid for by someone with a product to protect. When the funder profits from the result, the science bends — not usually through outright fraud, but through the quiet pressures of study design, selective publication and the way results are emphasised. Decades of meta-research confirm it: industry-funded trials reach favourable conclusions several times more often than independently funded ones.

The cost of letting that bias run is not theoretical. Pain medicines once declared “safe” helped drive an overdose crisis that has killed hundreds of thousands. A blockbuster arthritis drug stayed on the shelves for years after its manufacturer saw the heart-attack signal mounting. Real products, real profits, real harm — documented in court records, not guessed at.

- **Small independent labs have no ioniser, pill or patent to defend.** Their incentive is to find the truth and publish it — not to please a shareholder.
- **The studies above come from exactly that kind of lab.** We have labelled each one's size and type honestly, included the disappointments, and linked every source.
- **Read preliminary work as preliminary.** An honest pilot study is not a sales pitch — and a sales pitch dressed up as science is not a study.

This is water, not medicine. We believe in honest inquiry pursued in good conscience: follow the evidence — and follow who paid for it.

Kangen Water® is drinking water, not a medicine. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it is no substitute for professional medical advice. Statements about molecular hydrogen describe ongoing research and are not authorised health claims. Individual results vary.
